Our planning and urban design practice recognizes the connection between architecture and urbanism. While an awareness of the city is essential for creating generous buildings, designing an urban block requires knowledge of its components. Across institutional campuses, private developments, or large-scale master plans, we evaluate future scenarios and establish a foundation for development by applying our fine-grained knowledge of architecture to the scale of the district. At all times, we read the layers of history, landscape, and culture, building on what came before rather than starting anew.
