Following last weekend’s annual Doors Open event, KPMB is welcoming the public to explore our offices once again — this time as part of the King East Design District (KEDD) Neighbourhood Hop on May 29.

Organized by DesignTO and supported by the Old Town Toronto BIA, the event is an opportunity to explore the neighbourhood and seven design destinations, including KPMB’s home in The Globe and Mail Centre.

In 2018, KPMB departed our longtime but undersized timber loft studio on King Street West for the 12th floor of The Globe and Mail Centre — a building we were deeply familiar with, having designed The Globe and Mail’s headquarters and corporate event space in 2017.

KPMB partners Kevin Bridgman and Paulo Rocha led the design of our new 25,000-square-foot workplace, creating an environment that supports how we work and conveys who we are. To offer equitable access to natural light and views for all staff, the floor plan locates all desks and individual workstations along the building’s perimeter.

“There’s nothing more hierarchical than private offices having all the windows,” Kevin told Canadian Business in 2022.

The material palette subtly reinterprets key elements of our former home. “The warmth from the timber beams and ceilings of our original workplace inspired us to introduce a similar warmth in our new space,” added Paulo.

As part of the KEDD Neighbourhood Hop, visitors will have a chance to experience the design for themselves, while socializing with light refreshments.

The event is free to attend but requires registration.
