We’re pleased to share that Beaverbrook Art Gallery’s Harrison McCain Pavilion and Dream LeBreton were named winners at the 2023 AZ Awards Gala on June 23.

The Harrison McCain Pavilion was the Jury winner in the Commercial and Institutional Interiors (under 1000 square metres) category and Dream LeBreton was the People’s Choice winner in the Concepts – Ideas & Prototypes, Unbuilt Projects category.

Launched by AZURE in 2011, the AZ Awards celebrates projects, products, and concepts in eight major categories from designers and architects across the world. This year, AZURE said the winners chosen (from the 900+ submissions) “represent the best in global architecture and design” and “exemplify excellence in innovation, aesthetics, creativity, and social and environmental responsibility.”

“A lot goes into designing buildings that understand and meet the needs of those who will inhabit it, and it’s an incredible honour to be acknowledged for our work,” said Bruno Weber, partner on Dream LeBreton. “We’re truly grateful for this recognition and inspired to continue creating architecture that leaves a lasting impact,” added Matthew Wilson, principal on the Harrison McCain Pavilion.

Dream LeBreton, designed in joint venture with Perkins&Will,  Two Row Architect, and contributions from PFS Studio, Purpose Building and Innovation Seven, is a housing development in Ottawa crafted with affordability, sustainability, and social equity in mind. Of the 600 units, 41% of its units will be offered at below market rents and groups that typically face barriers to adequate housing will be prioritized.
