Bernard Jin

Senior Associate, OAA, FRAIC

Bernard joined KPMB Architects with more than 30 years of award-winning experience that includes leadership positions at Teeple Architects, MJMA, and gh3* in Toronto. Over the course of his career, he has worked on a range of typologies including institutional, academic, civic, multi-residential, master plans, and notable projects such as the Stephen Hawking Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics in Waterloo, Ontario; Borden Natural Swimming Pool in Edmonton, Alberta; and Scarborough Chinese Baptist Church, just outside of Toronto.

Inspired by how he might energize others through the poetry of space, he is drawn to roles where he integrates vision and delivery. To achieve project ambitions, Bernard brings exceptional design leadership, development, and execution to every project. His leadership in BIM delivery tools demonstrates his commitment to technical excellence and innovation.

Seasoned in leading complex projects, managing timelines and budgets, facilitating quality assurance and quality control initiatives, and guiding construction administration, he adeptly delivers on architectural vision and client objectives. Currently, Bernard is a project architect for the CAMH Research & Discovery Centre.

Leading with empathy, Bernard is a mentor who supports and creates conditions and processes that allow the next generation to nurture and grow their skills. His mentorship extends beyond his architectural practice and into his role as a high-performance sports coach where, like in architecture, he motivates, anticipates, and orchestrates to create successful outcomes.

“We're elevating the experience of architecture to create moments of wonder and betterment for all.”
