Last month, Collecdev celebrated the groundbreaking for Cielo Condos at the Bloor Street United Church, a 19th-century landmark, in Toronto’s Annex neighbourhood. Hosted inside the church, which has been meticulously deconstructed to preserve the original structure and bricks, the celebratory evening marked the onset of the residential tower’s construction in January 2023.
“KPMB’s design for the interior and exterior of Cielo Condos takes inspiration from the Bloor Street United Church, weaving both ecclesiastical aesthetics and rich heritage into the design,” remarked KPMB Partner, Andrew Dyke “The project unites historical and contemporary and will culminate in a residence that embraces the local community while continuing to carry out the original mission of the congregation. It’s exciting to look ahead to the next phase of the project.”
The KPMB team celebrated alongside, heritage architect ERA Architects, project consultants, agents, and members of the congregation.
