David Zenk and Brian Kerr have joined KPMB’s growing leadership team. Both accomplished architects, David was recently appointed principal and Brian was named associate.
David — an experienced architect of academic buildings, arts facilities, libraries, and athletic venues — arrives at KPMB following more than 30 years at the Cambridge, Massachusetts-based GUND Partnership. As managing principal, David led GUND Partnership’s project design exploration, guided the senior design management group, and oversaw business development strategy.
Over his multi-decade career, David has built an impressive portfolio of work that meets the evolving needs of academic institutions and thoughtfully enhances their campuses. Notable projects include the Chalmers Library at Kenyon College in Ohio, the Dana G. Hoyt Fine Arts Building at Sam Houston State University in Texas, and the Nancy R. and Norton T. Dodge Performing Arts Center and Learning Commons at St. Mary’s College of Maryland.
Associate Brian Kerr and office manager Jill Buckley also join KPMB from GUND, which closed in 2025 following founder Graham Gund’s passing and more than 50 years of architectural practice.
At GUND Partnership, Kerr played a leadership role for notable projects such as Thomas Hall, Winkler Hall, and the adaptive reuse of Bexley Hall at Kenyon College. Previously, he was an architectural designer at KieranTimberlake in Philadelphia, contributing to a variety of academic, cultural, and lab projects, including Weil Hall and the Kemper Art Museum at Washington University in St. Louis and the new Scaife Hall for Mechanical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University.
The appointments coincide with the opening of KPMB’s new Cambridge, Massachusetts office, established to support U.S.-based clients and institutions. The Cambridge studio will operate in close collaboration with KPMB’s design leadership and 130 team members in Toronto.
“After three decades, I’m thrilled to begin this new chapter in my own career and help shape the next one for KPMB,” says David. “KPMB has a great portfolio of work and significant experience designing successful academic facilities, cultural venues, and corporate workplaces across the U.S. — and I’m excited for what we’ll accomplish together.”
KPMB has completed transformative projects with notable institutions such as Princeton University, Yale University, Northwestern University, Smith College, and the University of Pennsylvania. In the Boston area, KPMB designed the acclaimed Duan Family Center for Computing & Data Sciences at Boston University and is currently leading the modernization of The Harvard Crimson newspaper’s offices in Cambridge.
“The arrival of David, Brian, and Jill marks a significant new chapter in KPMB’s evolution. Together, they bring significant design leadership and a wealth of experience in the U.S. market that will further our position as one of North America’s leading architecture and design practices,” says partner Bruno Weber.
