KPMB has appointed four new associates to the practice’s leadership: Ramona Adlakha, Samantha Hart, James Martin, and Alba Zagorcani. The promotions recognize the significant impact that each has made at KPMB and their emergence as leaders within the practice.

Ramona, Samantha, James, and Alba each possess diverse skill sets and have been integral to the design and delivery of many of KPMB’s most impactful recent projects. These include affordable and urban-infill rental housing developments, transformative corporate workplaces, and places of learning designed to unite disciplines and departments.

While the four have each charted their own unique architectural paths at KPMB, they are united by a shared belief in architecture’s responsibility to address the complex challenges of contemporary life and drive positive, lasting change. Through their project work and extracurricular commitments, they have each championed architecture’s ability to advance equity and create sustainable, healthy, and resilient communities.

Meet our new associates:

Ramona Adlakha, Associate

Ramona is a multifaceted architect who joined KPMB in 2021 and has since contributed to the award-winning global headquarters of Scotiabank in Toronto and new workplaces for a financial services firm and a nationally recognized law practice. She is a passionate advocate for promoting diverse perspectives in architecture and currently serves as the executive board chair of BEAToronto (Building Equality in Architecture Toronto).

Samantha Hart, Associate

With a skill set that balances design acumen with technical proficiency and an awareness of the profound impact of architecture on the student experience, Samantha has contributed to several of KPMB’s most notable education projects, including the Duan Family Center for Computing & Data Sciences at Boston University and the Julis Romo Rabinowitz Building & Louis A. Simpson International Building at Princeton University. She is currently a key member of the project team for the Dramatic Arts Building at Yale University.

James Martin, Associate

A sustainable design expert with a passion for adaptive reuse, James has been an integral team member for several of KPMB’s most complex urban infill projects, including the design of a rental tower above a heritage-listed office building and the transformation of a university library into a mixed-use campus hub with new student residences. He has also contributed to the Kindred Works sustainable rental housing portfolio, including the 11-storey mass timber Greencedar Commons.

Alba Zagorcani, Associate

Alba has significant experience designing and managing residential projects of varying scales and types, with a particular interest in affordable housing. She is the project architect of Tyndale Green, a 12-building mixed-use development that will integrate an underused university campus with of Toronto’s largest privately delivered affordable housing communities. She has also contributed to Odenak, a sustainable and affordable two-tower rental development in Ottawa, among other projects.
