At TSA Connect 2026: Get Involved — a networking event hosted by the Toronto Society of Architects — KPMB marketing and communications lead Alena Crowne will discuss the work of BEAToronto (Building Equality in Architecture) and its ongoing efforts to drive systemic change in the profession.
The May 5 event will bring together representatives from 14 organizations across the built environment, including non-profits, community groups, and professional associations. Each will introduce attendees to their organizations and suggest how those interested in volunteering can lend their time and expertise.
Alena joined BEAToronto in 2021 and now serves as sponsorship executive. The volunteer-run organization was co-founded by KPMB founding partner Shirley Blumberg with architects Brigitte Shim and Betsy Williamson to promote diverse perspectives in architecture.
KPMB is well represented in BEAToronto. Along with Alena, associate Ramona Adlakha currently serves as the executive board chair, senior director of business development and marketing Nina Boccia sits on the advisory board, and intern architect Angela Gou leads the organization’s social media presence.
