KPMB’s annual “Gingerbread Build for the City” competition in support of the Red Door Family Shelter is back.
Every holiday season, KPMB invites Toronto’s AEC community to design and build architecturally imaginative gingerbread structures.
In 2024, participating teams constructed gingerbread Eighth Wonders of the World and raised more than $5,600 in support of the Red Door Family Shelter. The Toronto-based shelter has provided emergency shelter and services to women, children, and families in crisis since 1982.
The theme of this year’s competition is “Game On”. Teams will design and construct gingerbread structures inspired by the worlds of classic video games and board games.
Last year’s competition featured builds from Adamson Associates, ASPECT Structural Engineers, BDP Quadrangle, Collecdev Markee, Giannone Petricone Associates, Moriyama Teshima Architects, Perkins&Will, The Plus Group, Stantec, and Sweeny&Co Architects.
The deadline to register for this year’s competition is November 7th.
