Luigi LaRocca studied architecture at the University of Toronto, graduating in 1979. He worked with KPMB's founding members at Barton Myers Associates for five years prior to the formation of KPMB in 1987, and has played a senior role in the firm since its founding, becoming an associate in 1989 and a senior associate in 1995.

Luigi has developed a speciality in quality control, and has supervised some of KPMB's most prestigious, award winning work through the design development and contract documentation phases.

Luigi is also skilled at developing co-operative relationships with clients and stakeholders on long distance projects. For the new Canadian Embassy in Berlin, a large urban project in a sensitive historic context, Luigi managed a direct and open communication with multiple stakeholders, including the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, the Berlin Architect-of-Record and the Canadian joint venture partners and consultants.

Luigi was also responsible for the Star Alliance Lounge in the Zurich Switzerland and Nagoya Japan. Other recent projects include the Maple Leaf Lounge at Pearson International Aiport in Toronto, the Centennial HP Science and Technology Centre in Scarborough, and the James Stewart Centre for Mathematics at McMaster University (2004 Governor General’s Award, 2005 AIA Honor Award).

Luigi's current projects include the Bell Lightbox for the Toronto International Film Festival Group and the new corporate headquarters for Manitoba Hydro in downtown Winnipeg.
